About Therapy

A therapist listens and gives you the emotional space and time to learn skills that will help you improve your relationships with yourself and others.
What Does Therapy Look Like For Me?
Whether you contacted me on your own or your parent or someone else who is concerned about you contacted me to help you solve a problem, we can work together to provide you some relief from an emotionally difficult situation, or to help you manage anxiety and depression.
The first session will address any questions or concerns you may have about therapy. Your questions and your expectations are very important. We will also start the process of assessing what brought you into therapy, what you want to accomplish, and what strategies we will use to help you reach your goals. To make sure we reach your goals, We will also address any problems that will get in the way of your progress as we work together.
If you don't have any questions at the first session, that's not unusual. Sometimes, it takes a while to take a risk and open up to someone new. You can continue to ask any questions at any time during our work together. Therapy is a process through which we develop a relationship of trust and acceptance as you learn skills to help you manage your problems more effectively over time.
You may have sessions once a week or more often if necessary. You will have the opportunity to practice certain skills outside of your sessions. We can see what works and what doesn't, and make the necessary changes to reach your goals.
